December 2011 - February 2012

Classes for adults are offered on Sunday mornings from 9:00-10:00am on a quarterly basis.

The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts
Teacher: Forrest Franklin
Room: Fellowship Hall

Who is the Holy Spirit? What is the function of the Holy Spirit within the Christian church? Why does God give His Holy Spirit to individuals? Does the Holy Spirit make any difference in your life? What about spiritual gifts? This quarter we want to look at these and other questions about the Holy Spirit and see what scripture and the Spirit have to teach us.

The Classical Era Of American Christianity
Teacher: Tim Heinrichs
Room: 210

In the 19th century a "perfect storm" of dynamic Christian influences came together and galvanized the Church. The result was an era of spiritual power and creative activism. The successes -- and shortcomings -- of that era carry lessons and inspiration of expanding Christ's Kingdom, even in our period of slippery postmodernism. Topics will include the Puritan heritage, evangelical republicanism, and the Great Awakenings.

Foster Care and Adoption
Teacher: Ann Morris
Room: 212

Throughout the Bible, God speaks about our responsibility to care for the orphans and widows. In this class, we’ll hear stories of many families who have been blessed through adoption and foster care. We’ll take time to learn what the Bible teaches about our adoption into God’s family and our responsibility as well. Additionally, we will hear from many organizations such as Antioch Adoption, Bethany, DSHS, and Youth for Christ Foster Care to learn about the process and how we can be a part of these opportunities. If you’re interested in just learning about the process and want to get more information, this is a safe and no pressure way to learn.
